The United People`s Democratic Front (UPDF) and its like-minded indigenous organisations enforced a daylong road and waterway blockade in Khagrachari on Saturday.
The organisation called for the blockade on Friday afternoon protesting the killing of Mithun Chakma and also demanding the arrest of his killers.
The blockade has started from Saturday morning. As a result, all the movement of long-distance traffic with the city has been stopped. The movement of the local roads in the district also is closed.
Officials at the district administration said, additional police have been deployed at different strategic points to avert any untoward incident during the blockade.
On January 3, Mithun was shot dead by miscreants at Pankhaiapara in Khagrhaccharhi. He was an Adivasi human rights defender and a UPDF organizer.
