UP chairman Nazir Ahmed Sardar used to live with his family members in a government primary school for three years in Dashmina upazila of Patuakhali. Actions were not taken against him for unknown reasons despite the concerned authorities were informed anonymously.

There are allegations that the local government department built a school cum cyclone shelters for Char Borhan Government Primary School in June 2019. During the construction of the new building, the chairman initially occupied two rooms of the four-room building of the school. Earlier, the old school was in the possession of the chairman from 2017.

He used to live in the school with his family and soon after he occupied the land adjacent to the school and provided it to one of his relatives to start a fertilizer business. He still holds the keys to the two rooms of the new building.

Concerned UP member and school managing committee president Jalil Jomaddar said, “We are managing the building as a sub-union council. Opponents of the chairman are spreading rumors against him.”

Accused UP chairman Nazir Ahmed Sardar said, “I did not occupy the land of the school. I have made an office in the school building.”

In this regard, Upazila Education Officer Ruhul Amin said, necessary steps will be taken if the matter is found to be true after proper investigation.
