UN Peacekeeping: 180 women police reach in Congo

A 180-member strong contingent of female members of Bangladesh Police has arrived in DR Congo to join a UN peacekeeping mission. They reached Kinshasa, the capital of Congo, on Friday.

This was informed in a press release signed by AIG (Media) Sohail Rana of Police Headquarters on Saturday.

The 180 members team of Bangladesh Women arrived in the Congo at around 3pm local time on Friday, the statement said. After completing the necessary formalities and health checks up at the airport, they reached the mission area and took charge of the mission.

Police Super Salma Syed Poly is leading the Bangladesh Formed Police Unit-1 (BANFPU-1, Rotation-13) team as commander, to establish peace in a volatile territory. Note that the FPU has been sending to the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2011.
