UK-returnee woman dies in isolation unit in Sylhet

A woman, returned from the UK, has died early Sunday while undergoing treatment at the Isolation Unit of Sylhet Sahid Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital on suspicion of coronavirus. Hospital authorities said the woman was 61.

Confirming the matter, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital Deputy Director Himanshu Lal Roy said that a woman died at the coronavirus unit in Sahid Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital, at 4:00 am. She was admitted to the hospital on suspicion of coronavirus. However, she died before a test.

It has been reported that the woman, returned from the UK's London, was resident of Shammabad residential area. She had been suffering from fever, cough and shortness of breath, since she returned home from the UK on March 4. Later on March 20, she was placed in the hospital's isolation unit on suspicion of coronavirus. 

According to sources, the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research IEDCR was supposed to collect blood sample from the woman. However, she died before collecting the sample.

Sylhet Sahid Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital sources said that four people had been undergoing treatment at the Corona Isolation Unit of the hospital. One of them died. The remaining three people are still under treatment, including a woman and a teenager returning from Saudi Arabia.
