The University Grants Commission of Bangladesh has urged all private universities to halt online tests, assessments and student admissions in this crisis over Coronavirus.

On Monday, in a press release, UGC said, “Some private universities disobey UGC's advice and conduct online test and evaluation activities. Even at this critical moment in the country, some private universities have decided to start admission activities this summer. Such activities are not acceptable anyhow.”

According to the Commission, such activity was not mentioned in the recent UGC office order. It is very unfortunate to conduct such activities at a few universities. These universities are urged to stop such activities immediately.

Earlier in a press release on March 24, the UGC encouraged to take classes online as universities were closed.

Meanwhile, the government has extended the holidays to all educational institutions in the country till April 14 as a precautionary measure to tackle Coronavirus transmission across the country.
