Two workers died after soil collapse in Munshiganj

Two workers named Rubel Hossain and Sachin Mandal died after they were buried under the soil that collapsed on them while excavating a hole for under constructed house in Srinagar, Munshiganj.

Another worker Zillu Hossain, who was injured in the incident, has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The accident took place in the Hasara area of Srinagar upazila around 2.30 pm on Thursday. Srinagar police have arrested the owner of the house for questioning.

According to local and police sources, the construction workers were digging holes to build a pillar for the house of Afzal Hossain, an Italian expatriate from the area. At around 2.30 pm, three workers were buried under the soil as it collapsed. After that the locals rescued them and took them to Srinagar Hospital, the doctor declared two workers Rubel and Sachin dead. The injured Jillu was sent to Dhaka Medical Hospital.

The deceased were identified as Rubel, son of Rezaul Karim of Madhya Hasara area, and Sachin, son of Dilip Mandal of Satgaon area.

Srinagar Police Station OC Hedayetul Islam Bhuiyan said that the spot was inspected after receiving the news. The house owner Afzal Hossain has been detained for questioning in the incident.
