Two pirates killed in Kutubdia gunfight

Two pirates were killed in a gunfight with police in Kutubdia upazila of Cox’s Bazar. 

The incident occured on Thursday early morning at Lemshikhali Baribandh area under Sadar upazila. 

However, police could not confirm the identity of the two pirates. Constable Taposh Pal and Saidul Islam were injured in the incident.

Didarul Ferdous, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kutubdia Police Station said, “After getting the news of gunfight between two pirate groups in Lemishikhali Baribandha area on the early morning, police went to the spot.” 

“During this, sensing the presence of the police, two pirate groups started shooting to police. Later, the pirates ran away when police fired back for self-defense,” he also said. 

“Police rescued two injured pirates and took them to Kutubdia Upazila Health Complex where duty doctors declared them dead. Two injured policemen were given first aid. Two pirate bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue,” the OC added. 

During this, a domestic gun, 12 round cartridge, and cartridge shells were recovered from the spot.
