Two gets life imprisonment in Mathbaria murder case

Two people have been sentenced to life term imprisonment for killing a housewife in Mathbaria of Pirojpur district.

Judge magistrate SM Zillur Rahman of Pirojpur Additional District and Sessions Judge`s Court delivered the sentence on Monday noon.

The convicted al-Amin Sardar alias Akash, son of Babul Hossain of Hatkhali village under Mathbaria upazila and Mukul Akter is the daughter of Jahangir Mridha of Mathbaria upazila.

Advocate Zahirul Islam, the prosecutor`s lawyer, said that on November 21, 2009, the accused took Mamtaj Begum to the nearby Bhandaria Upazila. After being strangled to death of housewife the accused fled lifting the body into the paddy field.

Hearing the case, the husband of the deceased lodged a murder case with the Bhandaria Police Station on November 22, 2009. Then police arrested Al-Amin and his associate Mukul. Later, they were released on bail and fled.

In connection with the killing, the investigating officer of the case filed the charge sheet against the accused on February 8, 2010, in the court.
