Two drug traders held in Barishal with yaba

Police have detained two persons from Kaunia Branch Road in the Barishal city along with a large number of yaba tablets on Monday afternoon.
The detainees were identified as Russell Hawlader, son of Kamal Hawlader of Kaliganj village and Tanvir Hawlader, son of Liton Hawlader of Kaunia Sunnia Mosque area.
Barishal Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Md Zakir Hossain confirmed the information at a press conference on Monday night. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kaunia), Md Masud Rana, OC Azimul Karim and other officials were also present at the press conference.
At the press conference, it has been informed that tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive at a rented house of Farid Alam in Kaunia Branch Road and detained Russell and his associate Nabin.
Later, according to their confession, the police recovered 1350 pieces of yaba tablets from the house. The estimated value of the contrabanded tablets is around Tk 6.75 lakh.
Preparations are underway to file a case against the detainees under the Narcotics Control Act.
