Two cousins among three children drowned in Cumilla

Two cousins in Homna and another child in Bancharampur of Cumilla have drowned on Monday morning.
The incident took place at Khode Daudpur village in Homna upazila on Monday, where two cousins died. The deceased were identified as Abtahi, son of Amir Hossain Khandaker, and Shakib, son of Ripon Miah of that village.
On the other hand, another 17-month-old baby named Joynal Abedin drowned in Bhurbhuria village of Bancharampur upazila.
According to family sources, Abtahi had come from Dhaka on the eve of Eid to visit his grandfather's house and Shakib's aunt's house in Khodedaudpur village of Homna upazila. Around 10 am on Monday, they both went to bathe in the pond next to the house with other boys from the neighborhood. But they did not know swimming and drowned. When their relatives rescued them and took them to the Upazila Health Complex, the doctors declared them dead.
On the same morning in Bhurbhuria village of Bancharampur. A 17-month-old baby named Joynal Abedin drowned. He is the son of Omar Farooq of that village.
Homna Police Station OC Abul Kayes Akand said the bodies of the drowned children had been handed over to their relatives for burial as there were no complaints from their families.
