Members of preventive team of Dhaka Customs House have arrested two Indian nationals and recovered 12 gold bars weighing 2.620 kilograms from their rectums at Shah Jalal International Airport in Dhaka, around 8 pm on Tuesday.

The arrestees identified as Iswar Das and Gurjan Singh, came here from Dubai on Emirates flight EK-586.

Assistant Commissioner (preventive) Md Saidul Islam said, `They tried to leave the Green Channel area hastily. On suspicion, we challenged them but they denied having any gold with them. We later took them to Uttara clinic, where x-ray report confirmed presence of gold bars inside their rectums.’

Market value of the gold is about 12.3 million taka, said customs authorities. Legal actions have been taken against the duo as par Customs Act 1969.
