The popularity of the chatting app WhatsApp has been strained due to their policy changes, however, the number of new users installing a Turkish messaging app BiP, as well as other rival apps, has soared into the millions in the days.
Around 2 million users per day have installed BiP, developed by mobile phone operator Turkcell, over the last few days, Turkcell General Manager Murat Erkan said Wednesday to the Turkish Sabah daily.
Germany is one of the largest active markets for BiP while a significant number of people in France and Ukraine have also downloaded the app as the app is in great demand in Europe and the Middle East. At the same time, the use of the app has increased among the users of the Muslim world. At present, the number of monthly active users of the app is one crore, Erkan said.
As of 5:00 pm on Friday, this app of Turkcell has been downloaded five crore times in Google Play Store only. In addition, Apple's iPhone users are also using the app. More than one million people have reviewed the app in the Google Play Store.
TurkCell, Turkey's largest state-owned telecom company, is the maker of the secure messaging app. BiP was launched in 2013 and has gained huge popularity in 192 countries in a few years.
