Train hits coal-laden truck in Jashore

A man was killed and another injured as a Khulna-bound intercity train hit a coal-laden truck on the Murali level crossing under the Kotwali police station in Jashore on Saturday night. 

The deceased was identified as Truck driver Akbar Ali, 45, hailed from Siali village in Chapainababganj district. The identity of the injured Truck helper could not be known immediately. 

Jashore Railway Police camp in-charge Sub-Inspector Tariqul Islam said that the accident took place when the coal-laden truck from Noapara collided with the Khulna-bound train coming from the opposite direction in Muroli rail crossing around 7:30 pm, leaving Akbar dead on the spot.

The truck helper was severely injured and was taken to Jashore 250-bed general hospital for treatment. The body of Akbar was sent to the same hospital for autopsy. 

A case was filed in this connection.
