Upset people torched magistrate’s car

Aggrieved passengers trapped in the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu bridge highway traffic jam has torched magistrate's car in Vikramhati of Tangail on Tuesday noon. At the time, a homebound couple gave birth a baby on the road near Jamuna bridge.

Tangail District Administration's Executive Magistrate Al Mamun confirmed the incident and said the agitated people set fire to Elenga bound car.

On the other hand, a woman named Afroza, wife of Habib Hossain delivered a newborn baby on the highway of the Bangabandhu Bridge on Tuesday morning. The couple named the child ‘Swarony’.

It is learnt that, with wife, Afroza Parvin, Habib Hossain son of Faruk Hossain of Porora Vita village of Bhogdanga under Kurigram Sadar, was going to his village Kurigram from Gazipur by a local transport vehicle. However, they were trapped in traffic on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway. In the traffic congestion, his wife gave birth to a daughter.

Habib Hossain said, when the birth-pain started, he called 999 keeping Afroza (the mother) beside the road. Later, Afroza Begum gave birth to a baby girl naturally. After this, an ambulance came from Bhuapur Upazila Health Complex with Nurses. Then the nurse treated his wife. Now both mother and daughter are risk-free.

Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mosharraf Hossain confirmed the matter and said that on Wednesday morning, a mother named Afroja Parvin of Kurigram Sadar gave birth to the child at Bangabandhu bridge east side area.
