Arrested Titas’s 8 sacked officials
The court on Saturday has arrested eight sacked officials of Titas in connection with the AC blast at Baitus Salat Jame Mosque in the Paschim Talla area of Fatulla in Narayanganj Sadar Upazila.
The CID sent the eight to the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Kawsar Alam for a five-day remand for further questioning in the afternoon.
“The judge granted them a two-day remand,” confirmed court police inspector Asaduzzaman.
Earlier in the morning, the CID arrested them. Before this, the Titas Gas Authority suspended eight officials for alleged negligence.
The arrested are — Sirajul Islam, manager of Titas in Fatullah area, deputy manager Mahmudur Rahman Rabbi, assistant engineer SM Hasan Shahriar, assistant engineer Manik Mia, senior supervisor Munibur Rahman Chowdhury, senior developer Ayub Ali and helper Hanif.

Earlier in the day, CID DIG Mainul Hasan told a news conference that they had arrested them at this stage of the investigation.
An explosion took place at the Baitus Salat Jame Mosque in the Paschim Talla area of Fatulla in Narayanganj on the night of September 4. 37 burnt people were admitted to Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute of Dhaka Medical College after the incident. 33 died at the hospital. One has returned home with treatment. The physical condition of the other three is also critical.
