Titas snaps over 2,000 illegal gas lines in Gazipur

A mobile court of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited has disconnected over 2,000 illegal gas connections in different areas of Gazipur.

The day-long drive was led by Gazipur Titas Authority and District Administration Executive Magistrate Farzana Islam on Friday.

The gas connection of the Bagher Bazar Membarbari area was disconnected by removing the illegal installed 300-meter pipeline. As a result, over 500 illegal gas connections have disconnected. Later, the mobile court fined Selina Begum Tk 50,000 for using illegal gas.

However, the authority snapped more than 1,500 illegal connections from residential houses in Shirirchala areas.

The mobile court fined Apparel Processing Industries in the Salna area Tk 50,000 for using an illegal gas connection.

A huge amount of pipes and other materials used for the illegal gas lines were also seized at that time.
