Today is the Great Victory Day. On the 48th anniversary of Victory Day, touches of red and green have been spread across the country. Everyone is celebrating the day with reverence. Bangladesh national cricketers were not excluded from this image. Shakib-Mushfiqur greeted the nation on the Victory Day in various social media.


On Monday, Shakib wrote on his social media Facebook page, “We won the victory of December 16 by self-sacrificing of the great freedom fighters." The victory that was achieved on that day made for us the possibility of many more victories. In the 49th year of victory, let's motivate ourselves again in the spirit of that first victory. Happy Victory day to everyone.”

“Many of us don't know the story of our very own red and green flag and I'd like to share that on victory day this year.”

“The red disc is placed slightly towards the left so that it looks centered when flying. It represents the sun rising above Bengal and the blood our heroes shed for our nation in 1971. the green stands for the lushness of the land of Bangladesh.

Today, we hold this flag with so much pride. 16th December-A victory that opened doors for many victories for us. Salute to the freedom fighters, you will never be forgotten.”


Referring to the significance of the day, star cricketer Mahmudullah Riyadh posted on his Facebook, “Today is the day of sacrifices from many Brave-Hearts. Let's not forget about their struggle and bravery.”

Bangladesh National Cricket Team pacer Rubel Hossain wrote, “This country is my pride - victory is my motivation. May the great victory be celebrated in the spirit of the War of Liberation. A humble tribute to the nation's best children. Those whose sacrifices we have achieved our freedom.”


Soumya Sarkar, of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team Opener, wrote, "Thousands of Salaam's humble tribute to those who have sacrificed blood for independent Bangladesh."
