The Bangladesh National Cricket Team is scheduled to tour Sri Lanka later this month. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is adamant about the decision of the preparation camp even though there is doubt about the tour yet. For this, the Tigers will go for ‘bio-secure bubbles’ as the Tigers will get up at the Team Hotel on Sunday for camping purposes.
The BCB did the coronavirus test to the national team cricketers on Friday as per the plan ahead of the three-match Test series. The test results are expected to get today.
Those who will be tested negative for the virus will only get up at the hotel. And those who will be tested positive will be in isolation under the supervision of BCB’s medical unit.
Confirming the matter on Saturday, BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury said, “Cricketers Covid-19 test report will get by 3:00 pm today. Those who are negative will only get up at the Team Hotel tomorrow. This also applies to team management and support staff.”
According to the previous plan of the tour of Sri Lanka, the national team cricketers will be tested in four phases. The first phase test was held on September 7 and 8. Then the second phase test is being held yesterday and today.
It is learned that a total of 53 samples including 18 cricketers have been collected so far. Mominul Haque’s team will stay at this elite hotel for a week before the Lanka tour. This is where the BCB has created the ‘bio-secure bubbles’ zone.
There are two special buses from the hotel to the cricketers’ field. Two bus drivers have also been tested. In the meantime, they have been kept in isolation, said Devashish, adding, “We have tested the drivers of the two buses. They will be completely in isolation for seven days.”
