The Bangladesh cricket team has started team practice ahead of three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at home starting from May 23.

Though the Tigers practiced at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday, Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, who have returned from India recently, did not join the team as they are in 14-day mandatory quarantine.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 23-member preliminary squad ahead of the upcoming series.

After getting a chance in the ODI team, some of them started practicing individually. This time cricketers have started group practice.

The players of the Test squad returned home on Tuesday after losing 1-0 in a two-match series against Sri Lanka. Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, and nine other players of the ODI squad were part of the Sri Lanka tour. They also started practicing today. The exercise will continue for three days (May 7, 8, and 9) before Eid break from 10 to 16 May.

The Sri Lankan cricket team are due to arrive in Dhaka on May 16. After completing the three-day quarantine session, they will start practicing from May 19. The first ODI between the two countries will be held on May 23. Followed by the second and third ODI on May 25 and 28 respectively.

This will be Bangladesh's third series in the ODI Super League. After whitewashing the West Indies, the Tigers also whitewashed to New Zealand. They have lost both ODIs and the T20 series against the Kiwis.

Tamim Iqbal, Naim Sheikh, Imrul Kayes, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah Riyad, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Sheikh Mahedi Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taizul Islam, Nasum Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam and Shahidul Islam.
