Finally, the final decision has been made. Bangladesh’s Sri Lanka tour for a three-match Test series has been postponed.
Confirming the information, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon on Monday said that it is not possible to make a tour to Sri Lanka in the current situation.
Board president and officials came to the BCB on Monday on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's birthday. The decision was made at an emergency meeting there, said the BCB chief.
He said that the national cricket team will not be touring Sri Lanka for the upcoming series as the BCB could not agree to the quarantine protocols set by Sri Lanka.
Mentioning that the host (Sri Lanka) had asked for a strict 14-day quarantine for the Tigers and without permission to continue training, the BCB president had said the protocols were not acceptable.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) CEO Ashley Silva said that the message, which we will receive from the COVID-19 task force, will be sent to BCB. If BCB were not willing to abide by protocols set by the task force, the tour will be called off and rescheduled, he added.
