Three fishers die as boat sinks in Hatiya

Three fishermen have died as a boat sank in Hatiya, Noakhali on Tuesday night. 11 more fishermen were rescued alive in the incident.

The fishermen, including bodies of three, were rescued from Tuesday night to Wednesday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Shuklab Das, Prannarg and Sourav, residents of Subarnachar upazila of the district.

Abdul Halim, in-charge of Hatiya Morshed Police Outpost, said that three days ago, 14 fishermen went to the deep sea by boat for fishing from Chairman Ghat of Hatiya. At one stage, the boat sank south of Char Rangunia near Bhasanchar on Tuesday night. 

On information, the divers of the fire service rushed to the spot and rescued 11 fishermen alive but, three of them remained missing. Divers recovered the bodies of three missing fishers on Wednesday afternoon.
