Argentine government has announced three days of national mourning over the death of legendary footballer Diego Maradona that have begun from Wednesday local time.
Argentina’s president Alberto Fernández declared the national mourning in the afternoon.
In a message, he said, “You took us to unique heights in the world. Flooded us with joy. You were the best of all time. Thank you for your visit, Diego. We will always remember you.”
Meanwhile, former Brazilian President Lula da Silva has expressed grief over Maradona’s death.
The football superhero, who left millions of fans around the world in tears on Wednesday, breathed his last at the age of 60 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
He underwent successful brain surgery on 3 October and recovering gradually, however, refrained from drinking alcohol too much at this time, as a result, he was having various problems.
