Thousands of people on the Greek island of Lesbos faced a third night in the open after the country's largest refugee camp burned down. And the sight of these refugees lying on the street has stirred people's minds.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, there are more than 12,000 people in the refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos.

Meanwhile, Greece is sending three ships to shelter migrants affected by a fire at a desperate camp on the island of Lesbos. Greek authorities say a ferry and two naval vessels have left for the island of Lesbos.

The country's migration minister, Notis Mitarachi, said the ships would provide temporary shelter for about 2,000 people. He added that the government is taking steps to provide emergency accommodation in the desperate camp area.

It is learned that terrible fire incidents took place on Wednesday morning. The fire burned the refugee camp into ashes and injured many.

Since the migration crisis erupted in 2015, mainly fuelled by the war in Syria, Greece has granted asylum to around 40,000 people from 70 countries, Mitarachi said.

Another 87,000 asylum applications are pending, he added.
