‘Folk Fest’, the biggest festival of international folk music, is not being held this year due to the coronavirus situation. Even, the international literary festival ‘Dhaka Lit Fest’ is also not happening this year.

Ajay Kumar Kundu, Chief Operating Officer of Mediacom Limited, the organizer of ‘Folk Fest’, said that the entire world has got a different look today because of COVID. So, the festival cannot be organized in this situation. And that is why we are not organizing any international folk music festival this year.

When the situation improves and normalcy returns, we will take the initiative to organize the festival again, he added.

Sadaf Saaz Siddiqi, director of ‘Dhaka Lit Fest’, said the next event will be the 10th anniversary of Dhaka Lit Fest. We started working towards that goal. But because of COVID, we had to change our plan. “The 10th event will be held in January 2022 instead of 2021. We are working towards that goal,” he said.
