Expressing “great sadness” over the separation from the royal family, Prince Harry said on Sunday that he and his wife Meghan had to give up their royal titles as part of a separation agreement with Queen Elizabeth and senior royal family members.

On Saturday, the Buckingham Palace announced that Harry and Meghan would no longer be working as royal members, no longer use their “royal titles”, and would pay their own way in life to forge new careers.

Meanwhile, in a speech on Sunday at Sentebale charity, Harry said he and his wife did not expect such an outcome. “Our hope was to continue serving the queen, the Commonwealth and military associations without public funding. Sadly that wasn’t possible.”

“It brings me great sadness that it has come to this.”

Under the agreement, Harry will remain a prince and the couple will keep their royal titles — Duke and Duchess of Sussex — while they beginning their new life, however, they will not take part in any royal events or tours.

Harry explained their decision was not walking away. “As far as this goes, there really was no other option.”

He told that he founded to help children with HIV in Africa “not as a Prince, or a Duke, but as Harry, the same person that the people have watched over the last 35 years.”

The plans for independence of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan announced to split from the royal family not only surprises the royal family but also hurt queen and other senior members with disappointment.
