There is no chance to misbehave with people: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed on Tuesday said to police men that there is no chance to misbehave and torture the people. Any kind of cruelty towards the people should be stopped and appropriate legal action should be taken in the relevant matters.

He came up with the comments while addressing a special meeting on law and order with police superintendents and other officials of 13 districts of Dhaka Range on Wednesday. This information was given in a press release signed by Sohail Rana, AIG, the public relations department of the police headquarters.

Dr. Benazir Ahmed said the police will be free from corruption and drugs, humane towards the people. Police services will be delivered to the doorsteps of the people through bit policing.

Mentioning that people's love can be gained by treating people well, the IGP said that the police got the proof during the coronavirus pandemic. 

The police chief said that the government has increased the facilities and salaries of all government professionals so that they do not have to tendency of corruption.

He said no member of the police could be involved in corruption. No member of the police will take drugs, will not be involved in the drug business. Relationships with drug traffickers cannot be maintained.

Noting the extent and importance of bit policing, the IGP said bit policing has been introduced in 6,912 bits across the country to bring police services to the doorsteps of the people. As a result, the police officer in charge of the bit area will be able to know about each police station in the area and identify their problems. As a result, it will be easier to control law and order and provide legal services in the area.

Referring to various initiatives for the welfare of police personnel while on duty, he said the treatment of police personnel has been modernized at the Central Police Hospital. Departmental level hospitals are being modernized. District hospitals are being brought under modernization. Besides, high-quality educational institutions in the form of cadet colleges will be set up in eight departments.

Dr. Benazir Ahmed said the Prime Minister is constantly working to make Bangladesh a developed country by 2041. In order to be a useful policeman in a developed country, we have to develop ourselves.

Dhaka Range DIG Habibur Rahman presided over the function and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam was present as the special guest.

Earlier, the IGP inaugurated a mural titled 'Muktir Mahakabbo' at Range Chattar on the occasion of Bangabandhu's time-honored speech on March 7. He also inaugurated a modern operations control room and monitoring center at Dhaka Range.
