Testimony in Shahid`s arms case begins

Testimony in the case filed against Regent Hospital Chairman Shahed Karim in the Arms Act has been started.
The plaintiff in the case, Metropolitan Detective Police Inspector SM Gaffarul Alam, testified in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayesh on Thursday.
At the end of the testimony, the accused's lawyers cross-examined him. As the cross-examination was not over, the court fixed September 13 as the date for taking the testimony of the remaining cross-examiners and other witnesses. On that day Shahed will be produced in court from jail.
Earlier on August 27, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayesh framed charges against Shahed. On July 30, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan filed a chargesheet against the accused Shahed in the court.
On July 15, RAB arrested Shahed from the border area of Satkhira. Later he was brought to Dhaka by helicopter. The next day, the court granted Shahed a 10-day remand in a case filed on various charges of fraud, including fake reports in the name of coronavirus test.
Then DB police went to Uttara with him. Weapons were recovered during the operation. A case was filed against him with Uttara West Police Station for recovering weapons.
