The assailants hit Md. Riaz Hossain on the head with a sharp weapon
Daily Bangladesh’s Rupganj upazila Corresponden Md. Riaz Hossain was attacked by unidentified miscreants. The assailants hit him on the head with a sharp weapon.
Journalist Riaz Hossain was attacked in front of his house at Khapara of Kanchan Municipality in Rupganj upazila around 12:15 am on Monday. He is currently undergoing treatment at US-Bangla Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Joynal Abedin Joy, a colleague of the injured journalist, said they were returning home in a private car from a birthday party in Dhaka on Monday night. Joy dropped Riaz in front of the dish office in Kanchan Bazar around 12:15 am. When Riaz reached near the house, a group of terrorists attacked him on the head with a sharp weapon.
At the screams of the injured Riaz Hossain, his family and the people around him rushed to his rescue and admitted him to Sufi Dayemuddin Hospital. There, 18 stitches were given on Riaz’s head. Riaz was shifted to US-Bangla Medical College Hospital as his condition became critical, Joynal Abedin also said.
Journalist Joy added that the terrorists had been threatening Riaz in various ways for several days. “This incident is completely planned. The next steps will be taken after talking to the family members,” he said.
Rupganj Police Station OC AFM Sayed said the attackers on journalist Riaz Hossain would be identified and brought under the law soon.
