Temperature may fall slightly, rain likely

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Monday predicted day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
The Met Office also forecasted that many parts over the country are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Barishal and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country," said a Met Office weather bulletin this morning.
The well-marked low persists over Uttar Pradesh and adjoining area. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Hariyana, centre of the well-marked low, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
As an outlook for the next 72 hours, BMD predicted: "Rainfall activity may decrease at the end period. "
The country’s maximum temperature was recorded 34.5 degrees Celsius yesterday at Srimangal in Sylhet and today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 24.2 degrees Celsius at Sayedpur in Rangpur.
Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6:00 am today was recorded 173 millimetres (mm) at Sayedpur in the Rangpur division.
