Temp likely to rise further; Heatwave to spread over country

The temperature may rise further and the mild heatwave that is sweeping over the country likely to spread in the next 24 hours ending 9:00 am tomorrow.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said this in a weather bulletin issued today (Saturday, March 15).
The country’s Met Office forecasted that the day temperature may rise by (1-2)°C and the night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
The mild heatwave that is sweeping over the regions of Jashore and Khulna may spread over the country during the period, the weather bulletin also said.
Meanwhile, the weather office said “light to moderate rain or thundershowers” accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Dhaka & Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions during the period.
“Weather may remain mainly dry elsewhere over the country,” it added.
A trough of low, in the meantime, has lied over West Bengal and its adjoining area.
The country’s maximum temperature recorded 36.5°C yesterday at Mongla in the Khulna division while today’s minimum temperature recorded 20.4°C at Mymensingh district.
Besides, the country’s highest rainfall recorded 44mm in Sylhet in the last 24 hours.
Today’s sunset will be at 6:34 pm and Tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:15 am.
