Technical education to be compulsory

Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department Md. Mahbub Hossain said the development of education is the commitment of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Technical education will be made compulsory in every educational institution.

He said this at a golden jubilee and reunion at Singherkathi Bahumukhi High School in Barisal Sadar Upazila on Friday afternoon. During this time, he unveiled the murals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and seven Birshrestha on the school premises.

Mahbub Hossain said one of the objectives of education is to create human resources. “We have undertaken several projects in the field of work-oriented education forums.”

He added that some trade courses have been identified keeping in mind international and local needs. Students will be trained in that trade.

AK Azad, President of Alumni Association of Dhaka University, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Barisal Md. Sadekul Arefin, chairman of the Barisal Education Board Md. Yunus, Professor Dr. Moazzem Hossain, and Barisal Sadar Upazila Vice Chairman Mahbubur Rahman Madhu were present at the program.
