Teacher loses hand in Gopalganj road crash

The left hand of a teacher Willes Little Flower named Fahima Begum has been severed in a collision between a picnic bus and a truck on Tuesday around 12:30 pm at Ghonapara area on Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Gopalganj sadar upazila. At least 15 students were injured in the incident. 

The injured teacher and 10 students of Willes Little Flower School (college branch) in Kakrail, Dhaka were admitted to 250-bed Gopalganj General Hospital. The rest have been given first aid.

Teachers and students were going to visit the tomb of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara. On the way, the bus driver lost control and hit a truck at Ghonapara area. In this, teacher Fahima Begum’s left hand severed and 15 students injured, said Fire Service Station Officer Nur Mohammad Sikder. 

Until the latest report, preparations were underway to send the injured teacher, whose left hand severed, to Dhaka by air ambulance, said Asit Kumar Mallick, assistant director of 250-bed Gopalganj General Hospital.  

DC Shahida Sultana and senior police officials inquired the injured patients at the hospital.
