The government has decided to inoculate at least 1 crore people every week starting from August.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen came up with the development while speaking to reporters at the handover ceremony of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine from Japan at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday afternoon.
"Have you heard anywhere in the world that more than one crore people will be vaccinated in a week?" But it is not just a word of mouth. The Ministry of Health and the Directorate of Health will jointly provide one crore vaccines per week.
"We have no shortage of vaccines. There is sufficient supply of Covid-19 vaccines. If one crore is vaccinated in a week, then half of the population can be brought under vaccination in two months. We should all commend the Ministry of Health for this efficiency. They are doing extremely nice job."
AK Abdul Momen said that very few countries in the world have such a situation. Many people in our country say a lot of negative things but do not see how much efficiency has risen.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque, Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Naoki Ito and other health officials were present on the occasion.
