More than 29,000 children have been killed since the start of the war in Syria in 2011, a London-based human rights organization said. The information was released in a report released on Wednesday on World Children's Day.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights said it documented the deaths of 22,753 children by forces of the Assad regime and allied Iran-backed terrorist groups. Among them, at least 186 children killed in chemical attacks and at least 305 children died of malnutrition and drug shortages.

The human rights organization says Russian forces, meanwhile, killed 1,928 children, while 984 children were killed by Syrian opposition forces, 956 by the Daesh terrorist group, 924 by the U.S.-led international coalition and 214 children were killed by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an umbrella group dominated by the PKK's Syrian affiliate.

More than 5,034 children, including 3,618 held by the Bashar Assad regime and 722 held by YPG terrorist group, remain in detention centers. The UN says four million people have been blocked in Syria because of the war where no humanitarian assistance being reached.
