The fourth death anniversary of eminent litterateur Syed Shamsul Haq is today (on Sunday).
He, one of the most popular writers in Bengali literature, died at a hospital in the capital on September 27, 2016, at the age of 82.
Born on December 27, 1935, in Kurigram, Shamsul Haq is an accomplished short-story writer, novelist, playwright and a very popular poet.
He received the “Bangla Academy Award” in 1966 at the age of 29, “Ekushey Padak” in 1984 and “Swadhinata Padak Award” in 2000 for his contributions to Bangla literature.
His literary works were included in the curricula of school, secondary, higher secondary and graduation levels of Bengali literature in Bangladesh.
On the occasion, different socio-cultural organisations have arranged various programmes in his birthplace Kurigram.
