Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebak League (BASL), the volunteers’ wing of Bangladesh Awami League (AL), is being celebrated its 27th founding anniversary today through various programs.

The Swechchhasebak League was founded on July 26 in 1994 as an Awami League’s associate body as per the directives of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s able daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Marking the anniversary, the Swechchhasebak League has drawn up different programs throughout the country on a limited scale by maintaining health guidelines and social distancing.

As part of the programs, the national and party flags will be hoisted in front of Swechchhasebak League’s central office in the capital along with its all offices at district, city, upazila and ward levels at 6 am on Tuesday.

The leaders and workers of the organization paid tributes to the Father of the Nation by placing wreaths at his portrait in front of historical Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi Road No. 32 at 9 am.

A discussion will be held at the Swechchhasebak League’s central office in the capital’s Bangabandhu Avenue at 4 pm.

Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will address the discussion virtually as the chief guest and give necessary directives to the leaders and workers of the organization.

Awami League Joint General Secretary and Swechchhasebak League’s founding president AFM Bahauddin Nasim will take part in the discussion as the special guest, while its President Nirmal Ranjan Guha will deliver the welcome speech.

At the outset of the discussion, a 5.31-minute documentary on the last one year’s activities of the organization will be screened, while a book titled “Swechchhasebar Ek Bochhor” (one year of voluntary services) will be unveiled.

Later, the Swechchhasebak League leaders will cut a cake on the occasion of the birthday of Prime Minister’s Information and Communication Technology Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy and offer doa, seeking his long life and good health.
