Surveillance boosted at borders to nab MC College rape accused

Border surveillance has been boosted to arrest the accused in a case filed over the gang rape of a young woman after tying up her husband at the dormitory of Murari Chand (MC) College in Sylhet. In addition to sending warnings to the border area, all police stations under the district police and metropolitan police have been instructed to remain vigilant.

Meanwhile, Saifur Rahman, the prime accused in the case, was arrested from Noarai Kheyaghat in the border area of ​​Sunamganj's Chhatak upazila around 8am on Sunday and the fourth accused Arjun Laskar was arrested from Habiganj.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media) Jyotirmoy Sarkar said police are conducting operations to arrest the other accused in the case. Several teams of police are already working in the field.

Sylhet District SP Mohammad Farid Uddin said all police stations under Sylhet District Police have been advised to be vigilant. Besides, the police have been asked to be vigilant so that the accused cannot escape through the border area. Besides, surveillance has also been increased in the village houses of the accused in the rape case. Multiple teams of police are also conducting raids in different possible places. Seven teams of metropolitan police are working in different stages to arrest the rapists.

Arrested gang-rape accused Saifur and Lashkar

Earlier on Friday evening, the couple from Shibbari area of ​​South Surma visited the MC College campus. At that time, Saifur and his associates - Rabiul, Tarek, Rony, Saifur, Mahfuj, and Arjun - took the woman and her husband to the nearby college hostel, where they tied up the husband and raped the woman. 

On information, police rescued the rape victim and her husband and sent the victim to the One-stop Crisis Centre at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.    

The victim's husband filed a case with Shahparan police station against six people. Three other unidentified leaders and activists of Chhatra League have been accused in the case. 

The accused in the case are- Saifur Rahman Shah Mahbubur Rahman Roni, Arjun Lasker, Mahfuzur Rahman Masum, Tarek Ahmed and Rabiul Islam.
