A court in Dhaka today has issued summons against cricketer Nasir Hossain, his wife Tamima Sultana Tammi and Tammi’s mother Sumi Akhter in a case alleging that Nasir married “someone else’s wife” without getting a “divorce”. At the same time, the accused were directed to appear in court on October 31.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim’s court issued the order on Thursday.

This information has been obtained from the sources of the general registration branch of the court.

Earlier, the same court had issued arrest warrants against cricketer Nasir Hossain, his wife Tamima Sultana Tammi and Tammi’s mother Sumi Akhter. Plaintiff’s lawyer Ishrat Jahan filed the petition.

Earlier on Thursday morning, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted an investigation report against cricketer Nasir Hossain and Tamima Sultana Tammi in the case.

The investigating agency submitted the probe report to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court (CMM).

According to the investigation, air hostess Tamima Sultana Tammi is still the wife of businessman Rakib Hasan, as per that, the marriage between cricketer Nasir Hossain and his “wife” Tamima was illegal.

Cricketer Nasir Hossain, Saudi Airlines air hostess Tamima Sultana Tammi and Tamima’s mother Sumi Akter have been made guilty in the investigation of the case.

The investigation report states that “Tamima did not divorce Rakib”. Rakib, on the other hand, did not get any divorce notice “legally”. Tamima fabricated the divorce notice and published it through various means. Due to not divorcing through due process, Tamima Tammi is still a wife of Rakib.

According to the country’s religious rules and regulations, it is illegal and punishable to marry another without divorcing the other. In such a situation, the marriage between cricketer Nasir Hossain and Tamima Tammi is illegal.
