A new 22-member convening committee, led by APM Sohail, ousted joint convener of Bangladesh Students Rights Council, has been announced and renamed as Bangladesh General Students’ Right Protection Council.
Acting convener of the Students Rights Council Rashed Khan and joint convener Nurul Haq Nur were declared unwanted in the committee.
They made the announcement at a press conference at the National Press Club on Thursday afternoon.
The 22-member partial convening committee announced the names of APM Sohail as the convener and Ismail Samrat as the member secretary.
Speakers at the press conference protested against the internal strife of Bangladesh Students Rights Council, unethical behavior, devaluation in grassroots, the expulsion of apostates and old leaders, women’s scandal, the domination of DU syndicate and formation of political parties.
They also mentioned the involvement of the leaders of the Students Rights Council in the incident of the rape of DU students.
It is to be noted that APM Sohail was expelled from the Bangladesh Student Rights Council on May 4 this year for violating organizational discipline.
