Bangladesh has extended the ongoing strict lockdown for another week across the country to curb Covid-19 transmission.
A gazette notification has been issued in this regard by the Cabinet Division on Sunday afternoon. The ongoing strict lockdown has been extended till June 6.
Earlier on May 23, the lockdown was extended till May 30 in a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19. However, the government eased curbs on long-haul public buses, trains and launches, allowing the operators to resume services after keeping them suspended for nearly seven weeks.
The government initially imposed restrictions on public movement, including the suspension of long-haul public transport, on April 5 and extended it till May 30 in phases as part of its move to contain the spike in both coronavirus infections and fatalities.
