Police recovered a stolen pickup truck from Badda in Dhaka within an hour of calling 999. Chattogram's Sitakunda police recovered the vehicle from the Sitakunda highway on Sunday.
It is learned that a man named Zakir Hossain called 'National Emergency Service: 999' run by Bangladesh Police from Badda in Dhaka on Sunday morning and informed that his pickup truck number Dhaka Metro Na-20-4781 was stolen around 4 am.
The truck was fitted with a GPS tracker. As a result, he could know the position that the truck was near Sitakunda on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway and was heading towards Chattogram.
Later, after calling 999, they immediately spoke to the caller and the duty officer of Sitakunda police station. Upon receiving the news, a patrol team of Sitakunda police station rushed to the highway. From there, Sitakunda Police Station SI Mamun Ahmed told 999 by phone that the pickup truck was recovered from the ATM booth of a private bank in Barbakund. However, no one was found in the car. Sensing the activities of the police, the thieves left the vehicle on the side of the road and fled.
It will be handed over to the owner of the truck in the legal process. Attempts to nab the thieves are underway.
