Stokes to miss rest England-Pakistan series due to family matter
English all-rounder Ben Stokes had a great series against the West Indies before ongoing Test series against Pakistan. In the first Test of the series against Pakistan, he failed with the bat but was brilliant with the ball. Stokes was supposed to play all matches against Pakistan. However, the all-rounder has withdrawn himself from the rest of the series for the family matter.
Ben Stokes played seven balls in the first innings of the Manchester Test against Pakistan but could not open the scoring. He did not get a chance in the first innings with the ball. The all-rounder took two wickets for 11 runs in the second innings in his four overs. Later he scored 9 runs with the bat.
Even after such a performance, there was no doubt about Stokes' place in the playing XI for the rest of the series. However, he has withdrawn from the squad himself to play the final two Tests against Pakistan and will instead head off to spend time with his family in New Zealand. The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed the matter on its Facebook page and Twitter on Sunday.
The England Cricket Board (ECB) did not say anything further over Stokes' departure. However, the decision not to have this all-rounder in the rest of the matches has undoubtedly come as a big blow for the hosts.
