Stepson tried to burn bodies after slaughtering mother, daughter

After hacking his stepmother and sister to death in Sylhet, Abad Hossain tried to burn their bodies, police said on Friday while briefing about the incident of a woman and her daughter was hacked to death in Shah Paran police station in Sylhet.
Abad was arrested with a knife in collaboration with locals after the killing on Thursday night. Under interrogation, he confessed to the murder.
Earlier, Abad’s stepmother Rubiya Begum and her daughter Maha were hacked to death in Mir Mahalla of the BIDC area under Shah Paran police station at around 12:00 am.
His stepbrother Tahsan was also wounded and later succumbed to death at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in the morning.
“Rubiya and her daughter were killed on the spot when Abad was hacking his stepmother, sister and brother,” said Syed Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shah Paran Police Station.
Upon receiving the news, the police went to the spot and arrested Abad with a knife with the help of the locals, he said.
OC said the accused confessed to the murder during the preliminary interrogation and informed he killed them over the “family dispute”.
“Abad’s father brought him in Beanibazar a few months ago to look after his shop, however, his stepmother Rubiya Begum did not like the matter. Enraging by her behavior for few days, he attacked them,” said OC Syed Anisur Rahman.
The police official said that Abad was not only hacked them but also “tried to burn the bodies.”
The OC further said that the bodies were recovered and sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
