‘Steps taken to compensate poultry farmers’

The steps have been taken to compensate farmers, fisheries, poultry farmers in Prime Minister’s economic package, said Dr. Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday while speaking at a government residence on Mintu Road in Dhaka 

Highlighting the government’s measures for working-class people suffering from coronavirus situation, Hasan Mahmud said that the government has allocated Tk 16 crore cash and 48,117 metric tonnes rice from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief so that poor people outside government’s current VGD, VGF card-holders can get free foods.  

Beyond this, Tk 24 OMS rice is being provided at a price of Tk 10 per kg across the country including Dhaka from Ministry of Food so that poor people can buy, he said. “From different media, it has been learned that people thanked the government, feel relief.” 

Besides, the government has been distributing rice worth Tk 30 per kg to 50 lakh families for the last seven months, resulting in about 2.5 crore people receiving this assistance, Dr. Hasan Mahmud added.
