State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell mourns death of HT Imam
State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell on Thursday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s political affairs adviser HT Imam.
In a condolence message, the State Minister said HT Imam, responding to the call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1971, resigned from the lucrative job in the Pakistan Civil Service and worked for the Liberation War. After independence, he also worked tirelessly to implement the ideology of Bangabandhu.
He also said that HT Imam had played an important role in defending the country’s democracy as the convener of the election steering committee of the 14-party alliance, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the 2008 national election.
The State Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family, the message added.
The veteran politician and former cabinet secretary breathed his last early today at around 1:15 am at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital.
