Star Cineplex of Bashundhara City Shopping Mall may continue its operation after the possibility of agreement renewal with the mall authorities has reportedly been discussed.
According to Daily Star, Star Cineplex authority is expected to formally announce the continuation of operation at the Bashundhara City mall on Thursday.
Khorshed Alam Khashru, president of Bangladesh Film Producers’ Association, told the media that they had talked with Star Cineplex Chairman Mahboob Rahman on Wednesday and learned that Star Cineplex is not going to close operations at Bashundhara City. “New agreement between the two parties is underway,” he said.
However, Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, marketing and public relations officer of Star Cineplex, told that the matter is still not confirmed but they hoped to inform everything in detail tomorrow.
Earlier on September 1, Star Cineplex announced to close its business with Bashundhara City and closure of its six theatres at the mall, following the termination of its deal with the mall authorities.
Star Cineplex was officially launched in 2004 at Bashundhara City shopping mall at Panthapath in the capital city of Dhaka. It later launched new branches at Shimanto Square in Dhanmondi and SK Tower at Mohakhali.
Star Cineplex is also going to open a branch in the shopping mall where the Sony Cinema Hall was located in Mirpur.
