‘Specialized hospitals to be set up in eight divisions’

Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday said that the government is going to set up new 300-bed specialized hospitals in eight divisions of the country. The 15-storey hospitals will be launched by 2022.

He told reporters after a meeting at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at the Secretariat in the capital.

“The Prime Minister had recently approved a project worth Tk 2,500 crore in ECNEC. These hospitals will treat cancer, kidney and cardiac patients,” said the Health Minister.

Responding to a query from reporters, the minister said, “We have already started activities by arranging seats in medical colleges considering the disease.”

The meeting was attended by Abdul Manna, secretary of the Health Service Division, and senior officials of the ministry and the department.
