‘Specialized hospitals to be set up in 8 divisions’

Health Minister Zahid Maleque said initiatives have been taken to build 300-bed specialized hospitals for heart, kidney, and cancer treatment in eight divisions of the country. The health minister made the remark while addressing a seminar as the chief guest through a webinar on Tuesday.

The health minister said the 15-storey hospitals will be launched by 2022. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had recently approved a project worth Tk 2,500 crore in ECNEC.

Retired Brigadier Abdul Malik said at the seminar, our standard of living is changing with the improvement of our standard of living. The incidence of heart disease is also increasing due to various reasons including not doing physical work, smoking, not eating a balanced diet, and so on. It is important to increase awareness to avoid this. At the same time, he advised everyone to follow the hygiene rules to be safe from coronavirus.

Director General of the Department of Health, Professor ABM Khurshid Alam, and the representative of the World Health Organization in Bangladesh, Dr. Bardan Jung Rana were present at the webinar as special guests.
