Special lockdown: Reluctance to comply with hygiene

The first day “special lockdown” is underway in the Gopalganj district. The lockdown has been going on “loosely” since Tuesday morning.

People in these areas are going out of their houses “unnecessarily” by disobeying the ban of the administration. 

Although restrictions have been imposed on public transport such as three-wheelers and autorickshaws, it is not being complied with. However, long-distance transportation and most shops in the city remained closed.

Meanwhile, police patrols have been set up at the entrance gates of the district and upazila towns including launch ghats, court area, police lines junction to make people aware and not to come out unnecessarily. Law enforcement is encouraging people to wear masks. 

According to the government, 49 people have been detected with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall caseload in the district to 4386. Besides, one died from the pandemic during the period, climbing the death toll to 45.
