Bangladesh will play a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at home. This is the third series of the Tigers in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. Left-handed batsman Soumya Sarkar is confident of returning to the winning ways from the New Zealand series defeat. The southpaw is now preparing with his teammates ahead of the series against the Island nation.

Soumya Sarkar came up with the comments in a video message after practice on Wednesday ahead of the series.

"Any match is important for Bangladesh. There is no point in thinking about what had happened in New Zealand. It is better to think about the next series," Soumya said.

"I think everyone will perform well in the home series against Sri Lanka and we will win the series," said the Southpaw.

Bangladesh has just played a Test series against Sri Lanka. Soumya believes that those who were part of Sri Lanka series will get a little advantage in ODIs.

"Those who have played Test matches in Sri Lanka, have batted or bowled a lot of the time, if they can bowl or bat with 100 percent line-length, the series will be competitive."

Bangladesh played in New Zealand and Sri Lanka without their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. This time, if everything goes well, he will be part of the team. Pacer Mustafizur Rahman was not played in Sri Lanka but he played all 7 matches for Rajsthan Royals and is also in the rhythm. Shakib and Mustafizur Rahman's return gives extra hope to Soumya.

"When Shakib Bhai plays, we get two in one. This is definitely a big deal for the team. And we saw Mustafizur playing very well in the IPL 2021. Of course, it would be great for the team to have the two of them back together. Hopefully, the two of them will finish the series very well," Soumya added.

The first ODI of the three-match ODIs will be played on May 23 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The other two matches will be played at the same stadium followed by May 25 and 28 respectively.
